Service Consumption Terms
The Hippobyte Service is an automated cloud data pipeline (“Connectors”) provided by Hippobyte Inc. (“Hippobyte”, “we”, “us”, “our”) to Hippobyte customers (each a “Customer”, “you”, “your”) as a service which consumes data from various sources and centralizes this data into a specific destination. The Hippobyte Service is available in several different tiers (“Tiers”) and hosted in different geographical regions (“Regions”) by third-party cloud providers (“Cloud Providers”), as described more fully in your agreement with Hippobyte (“Agreement”) and the Documentation.
Definitions
- Billable Credit: Usage of the Hippobyte Service is charged on the basis of billable credits, the conversion rate of monthly data events to credits is determined by the Service Consumption Terms.
- Monthly Data Events (“MDE”): The number of data records synchronized via the Hippobyte Service calculated on a per-account basis.
- Account:The customer’s account on the Hippobyte Service.
- Destination:A destination is a warehouse or database where the data is delivered.
- Initial Synchronization: The first time a connector synchronizes.
- Billing Period: A calendar month running from the first to the last day of the month.
- Rollover: Unused credits at the end of your contracted period with Hippobyte can continue to be used in the following period as long as you have renewed or have an active contract.
- Tier: The bundle of features included as a part of your Hippobyte Service.
- Capacity Purchase: An annual upfront purchase of credits in bulk that qualifies the purchase for a discount.
- On-Demand: Monthly usage billed in arrears which does not qualify the purchase for a discount. On-Demand is only available after an initial Capacity Purchase.
What is a Monthly Data Event?
Monthly Data Events (MDE) are similar to total monthly synced rows but are less prone to variation and less prone to outliers. MDE is calculated as the number of distinct primary keys observed by Hippobyte in a given Billing Period. Primary keys are counted separately by Hippobyte Account, Destination, and Connector. For clarity, if a distinct primary key (or unique row) is synced more than once in a given Billing Period then the distinct primary key counts as only a single Monthly Data Event. For example, a distinct primary key synced 30 times during a Billing Period will count as one Monthly Data Event. If a primary key is not available, we create a synthetic (hash) primary key. One exception to this is that we exclude Monthly Data Events associated with the initial historical sync for each new Connector added.
How does credit consumption work?
Monthly Credits used are determined by the number of Monthly Data Events within each billing account and are consumed based on a diminishing slope. In other words, the more unique data you sync in a month, the cheaper the incremental cost per unique Monthly Data Event.
The pricing of your credits depends on the plan you have selected and whether you are in On-Demand or drawing down from a Capacity purchase.
Capacity Purchase
If you are drawing down from a Capacity purchase, your credit consumption rates will be determined by the Service Consumption Table outlined below. Capacity Credit Pricing is determined by the discounts specified on your Order Form. Purchased Capacity may be applied toward any of your Accounts on the Hippobyte Service. However, the service consumption table benefits for higher volume are applied on an Account by Account basis. Hippobyte will provide you with monthly usage, in arrears via the Hippobyte dashboard.
Monthly Service Consumption Table
MONTHLY DATA EVENTS | BASE BILLABLE CREDITS | INCREMENTAL CREDITS PER MILLION MDE | EFFECTIVE CREDITS PER MILLION MDE |
---|---|---|---|
0 | 0 | 1,500.00 | 1,500.00 |
1,000,000 | 1,500 | 222.22 | 1,500.00 |
10,000,000 | 2,500 | 44.44 | 250.00 |
100,000,000 | 6,500 | 8.88 | 65.00 |
1,000,000,000 | 14,500 | 4.00 | 14.50 |
10,000,000,000 | 46,500 | 1.00 | 4.65 |
In order to calculate monthly Credit consumption we use the following formula:
Base Credits per Month + (MDE - Monthly Data Event Threshold) * Incremental Credits per Million MDE
On-Demand
If you are drawing down Credits from On-Demand, your Credit consumption rates will be determined by the Service Consumption Table and the undiscounted list price per Credit of your Plan. You will not benefit from any capacity discounts for these Credits and will be billed for On-Demand usage in-arrears for each Billing Period.
Rollover
If you do not use the Credits that you purchased during the term of your contract, you can renew your subscription for a minimum purchase of $1,000 and the remaining Credits on your account can be rolled over to the new contract term.
Initial month
We will accommodate the Hippobyte Service Consumption Table to “right size,” or prorate, your first month’s purchase so you’re not penalized for starting the service mid-month. For example, if your subscription starts on the 15th and it’s a 30-day month, then we will adjust the Credit Consumption rates in the Service Consumption Table by 0.5.
Multiple Accounts
If you decide to open multiple Hippobyte Accounts, each account will apply the Hippobyte Service Consumption Table for the MDE within that Account. You cannot add together the MDE for multiple Accounts and apply this MDE to Hippobyte Service Consumption Table to get a more favorable rate. However, if you would like to merge multiple Accounts into a single Account with separate destinations, you can reach out to Support through your dashboard or viasupport@hippobyte.comto get help with this migration.
Changes to the Hippobyte Service Consumption Table
This Hippobyte Service Consumption Table may be updated from time to time. Hippobyte will use reasonable efforts to provide 30-days advance notice via email or through the Hippobyte Service of material changes, but the changes shall be effective on the date that Hippobyte announces they are effective.
